The British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) recently announced their winners for the 2007 British Academy Video Games Awards. Our own Okami came away as the winner for Artistic Achievement as well for Original Score. All this, and soon you will be able to play Okami the way it was intended to be played, on the Wii!

We recently let the world know that Okami is finally coming to the Wii, where many fans believe Okami belongs. Ready At Dawn, the guys behind the PSP version of God of War, has been brought on to do the port. To find out more about the project, IGN interviewed Didier Malenfant, the president of Ready At Dawn.

What new content appears in the game, compared to the PS2 version?

Didier Malenfant: The game on Wii is going to be an exact port of the PS2 version and I think that’s what fans of the franchise want to see. This game has such a huge following throughout the world that people would probably send us death-threats if we messed it up by trying to add things that don’t have their place in the Okami universe. Being huge fans of the franchise ourselves, we made sure that Capcom also wanted to stay true to the original before signing on to do this.

Okami is like an award-winning ninja. Just when other developers think their game finally has a chance to win something, Okami pops up again out of nowhere and snatches the award.

A jury of five game-industry staff at the Edinburgh Interactive Festival in Edinburgh, UK, has just awarded Okami with the Edge Award, meaning it was their favorite game of the year.

Incidentally, two Capcom games were in the running among the final eight, with Dead Rising being the other Capcom title.

Maybe if we gave it enough awards, someone up there will decide to make a sequel or port it to the Wii?

It’s common knowledge that when you put racing stripes on your “Rice Rocket”, it automatically gives you an extra 5 horsepower. But who needs horsepower when you can have the power of a God? That’s probably what inspired the owner of this Forza Motorsport 2 player, and obvious Okami fan, to this customized paintjob for his Ferrari.

Isn’t Amaterasu a wolf? How can you cosplay Amaterasu you ask? Well, simple. Since you can’t actually dress up a wolf, them being dangerously feral and all that, you dress up the next best thing, a dog. I’ve never been a fan of dressing up pets (It just seems kind of cruel to me because they have no say in what they want to wear), but this was kinda cool that it’s tolerable. Besides, it’s not as this dog’s owner will make this dog wear it all the time… I hope…

Japanese gaming magazine, Famitsu, considered the most important gaming magazine in Japan, has honored Capcom with three awards for their Famitsu Awards 2006.

The games under consideration for this year’s awards were games that were released in Japan during the period of January 1st, 2006 through December 31st, 2006. Votes were cast by game players around Japan and the editors from the Famitsu Group of Enterbrain’s publications determined the final awards based on the votes received.

Monster Hunter 2 Dos was awarded for Best Multiplayer Action Game, Dead Rising received an award for Best Impact Game, and Okami received an award for Best Game Design.

Okami was really a good game, but don’t take our word for it. Around the gaming industry, as well as with gamers themselves, it has won enough awards that if we actually had hardware to go with them, we’d need to set aside a whole corner office just to house them all.

2006 may be over, but Okami keeps on adding to its trophy case. This time, Okami was awarded the grand prize in the Entertaiment Division of the 10th Japan Media Arts Festival run by Japan Media Arts Plaza.
