PS3 blog site PS3 Fanboy yesterday posted an interview they conducted with Udon Comics. In the interview, they discuss how Udon hooked up with us in the first place and how they became involved in the Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix project.
PS3 Fanboy: When were first plans for SSFIIHD discussed? How did Udon join the project?
Udon: Capcom first mentioned the possibility to us last summer. As with any video game project, schedules and budgeting can take a while to get hammered out. As far as we know, Capcom wanted UDON to be a part of the project right from the get-go.

Despite billing itself as an “industry” event, it was clear that E3 had become essentially a consumer show, with sacks full of giveaways, carnival-barkers, and babes, all aimed at attracting stragglers into companies booth. As I’m sure everyone’s heard, that crazy circus feel was a distant memory at this year’s event, which was spread across a number of not-quite-next-door to one another beachfront hotels, as well as an airplane hangar!
The bad: The booths were fairly far apart, but even if you ignore the physical distance, exhibitors from different companies weren’t really allowed into one another’s booths. I felt this hurt the spirit of the thing, since E3 was always a fun and interesting way to see what everyone was up to around the wide world of video games. This year it was hard to see much outside of the big press events or your own booth. Boo.
The good: The hotels (and Santa Monica) in general were very nice. Of course the long show schedules during the day meant we didnt see much of the sun, but it’s nice to know it’s there. Being a real industry event meant most people that showed up were there for appointments, which gave everyone a chance to really spend some time with the titles apart from the crush of crazy fans streaming through on all sides. That said, I missed the crazy fans too!
Here are a few of my pics from inside the Capcom installation, which was located in a small ballroom at the Shutters on the Beach hotel. They include a few shots from setting up as well as people coming through for demos of the game.

Wow. We have a ton of things planned for Comic Con.
Boxing Ring? Check. Appearance by Mega Man and Harvey Birdman? Check Throw down between Mega Man and Harvey in the boxing ring? As Borat would say, “Not!” Other appearances include the producer of Ace Attorney, Minae Matsukawa, and the writer of Shade II cellphone MMO, Marv Wolfman.
At the same time, a number of tournaments will be held as well, such as Lost Planet (360) and Puzzle Fighter, culminating with the Evo West qualifier.
Meanwhile, a number of nerdcore artist will be showing off their musical talents, featuring artists such as The Sucklord, Ytcracker, Former Fat Boys, and Random.
Oh, and right, of course, we also make games, or something. Come be the first non-press-guys to play such titles as Umbrella Chronicles or Zack and Wiki (And see what IGN was raving about).
For the full schedule of all the exciting events that you won’t wanna miss, check out this forum post.
Following the release of the teaser site launched earlier this month hinting at a brand new 2D fighter, Capcom Japan has finally reviewed today that the new game is Sengoku Basara X,
The game will feature 10 characters from Sengoku Basara (Known as Devil Kings in the US) and will be released to Japanese arcades later this winter.
The folks at www.gametrailers.com have put together a fun video and survey comparing Konami and Capcom’s games throughout the years, from 8-bit to present day. You can vote on who had the better games per videogame era and overall. Do you prefer Resident Evil to Silent Hill? Was Bionic Commando just as fun as Metal Gear? Watch the video and share your opinion HERE!

Hopefully you’ve all had a chance to check out the sneak peaks at the new Resident Evil 5 trailer just shown at E3.
Got questions? Then who better to ask than Takeuchi-san, Resident Evil 5’s producer! Post your questions in our Resident Evil forums we’ll translate them and send them on for his reply. He’ll answer as many as he can as best he’s able, but we’re aiming to have his answers up by July 30th, so send your questions ASAP to allow us time to translate them into Japanese and back into English again for you.

Pillaging Pirate Adventure Challenges Gamers to Play Different
E3, SANTA MONICA – July 11, 2007 – Capcom®, a leading worldwide developer and publisher of video games, today showcased its first original title exclusively for the Wii™ video game system, Zack & Wiki™: Quest for Barbaros’ Treasure, an innovative, full-length puzzle adventure game that utilizes the unique control mechanics of the Wii Remote™ and challenges gamers to “play different.” Capcom plans to release Zack & Wiki: Quest for Barbaros’ Treasure in late October.
“Innovation has been the cornerstone of Capcom’s successful history,” said Jack Symon, director, brand marketing, Capcom Entertainment. “By introducing a whole new level of interactivity, this title reinforces our commitment to pushing the limits on how people view and play games.”

One of these treasure seekers, a young apprentice pirate named Zack happens upon a mysterious talking skull, the skull of Barbaros himself. Barbaros promises to reveal the key to the island, if Zack will help to lift the curse he is under.
Players will explore a variety of wondrous environments and stages, solving puzzles and interacting with the world in search of a legendary pirate ship and the ultimate pursuit of becoming the greatest pirate the world has ever seen. Inventive gameplay mechanics and controller movements allow players to move and open objects, transform items, unlock new pathways and navigate through perilous stages based on a variety of themes including a jungle, ice temple, volcanic caves and more, each with multiple sub-areas. Players will use the Wii Remote controller in various ways – rotate handles, turn keys to open doors, play a piccolo and much more in order to solve the progressively difficult puzzle stages and collect key items that will lead to the legendary pirate ship.

The session will take place on Tuesday, August 7th, 2007, at the GameStop located on Broadway and 33rd in New York City. A new patch should be live on Steam now for Lost Planet PC users. This patch enables Lost Planet single-player to be played in offline mode, no longer requiring an Internet connection just to play single player.
Don’t worry, more patches and fixes are on the way as well.

Part 1 of an infamous 1996 Street Fighter Alpha 2 tournament! Dubbed from decaying VHS tapes, this tournament was an important part of the beginning of what has today evolved into the worldwide EVO Championship Series.
Funfact: The video was edited and produced on a rented Commodore Amiga computer!

In probably what is one of the coolest marketing moves evar, Fox was able to convince 7-11 to turn 11 of their stores into replica Kwik-E-Marts, complete with Buzz Cola, Squishees, and other Kwik-E-Mart favorites, ahead of the Simpsons movie.
Since one of those stores is in nearby Mountain View, CA (near Google), a couple of us here at Capcom decided to pay it a visit. Picture evidence follows.
