I’m sure every Capcom fan has heard of the infamous Guile “Handcuffs” tricks, though some of you have never seen it performed. Well, Kotaku has posted a video that is a compilation of old bugs and glitches from the Street Fighter II series of games.
To this day, when my friends and I occasionally hit up the local Golfland, we’d always make a stop at the multi-ROM machine, where it is now the only place in the Golfland arcades to find the Street Fighter game.
We wouldn’t actually play on it. All we’d do is select Guile, start the first stage, and proceed to do the Handcuffs trick to freeze the game. Then we’d walk away with huge grins on our faces.
It hasn’t ceased to entertain us for some reason, and it probably never will.

Our resident blogger Brian Dunn is working on putting up a blog related to our download titles (PSN/XBLA). Before it goes live though, he gives us this actual piece of in-game art from the upcoming Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo HD Remix to get us salivating.
A few of gaming related sites yesterday, such as Kotaku, spotted a Capcom Europe Killer 7 gamesheet with a Wii symbol on it. Naturally, it was deduced that this must mean that at the very least, a Wii port of the game was on its way. Unfortunately, that was the result of an error (Like, zomg!) and here’s the lowdown from our sister site, Capcom-Europe:
Sharp-eyed browsers of the website may have noticed that the Killer 7 gamesheet was showing a Wii symbol yesterday. We are sorry to disappoint Killer 7 fans who thought this meant a Wii version might be on the horizon, but we can confirm that there are currently no plans for a Killer 7 version for the Wii platform.
The Wii symbol was due to testing on our test realm somehow making its way across to the actual site; the Killer 7 gamesheet is one of the ‘sandbox’ ones we use to test new things such as, for instance, ensuring that the Wii symbol looks the right size next to the ones we use for PS2, Gamecube etc before we put it live.
The interest this seems to have generated on the internet is quite gratifying, but we’re going to have to disappoint you this time. The innovative control system of the Wii would seem like a good match for the innovative gameplay of Killer 7 and we cannot completely rule out the idea of a Killer 7 Wii at some point in the future. However we can confirm that there are no plans at the present time to make such a game and there is certainly not one in the pipeline that we are not telling you about.
Sorry for the confusion.

There hasn’t been Onimusha news for awhile, but this one should make up for all that: Onimusha is getting a movie!
Screendaily.com is reporting that director Christoph Gans (Silent Hill) has signed on to direct the estimated $70 million film. The movie is still a bit of ways away though, as production is not set to start until February 2008, with a planned release date of December 2009.

Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu DS+Wii (Nintendo oriented sister mag to Famitsu) gave Resident Evil 4 Wii Edition a 38 out of 40 in this month’s issue. Two reviewers gave it nines, while two others gave it perfect tens.
So there you have it folks. A near perfect game with a near perfect price of $29.99. What more could you ask for?

The thrillingly-named Super Battle Opera (a.k.a. “Tougeki, the 5th Arcadia Cup Tournament”) is Japans de facto national fighting game championships. It should come as no surprise that the birthplace of the modern fighting game is also home to many of the greatest players in the world (including Ohnuki, Kurahashi, and the now-infamous Daigo Umehara), and so the competition is always fierce.
The Super Battle Opera competitors (“SBO”) are mostly Japanese nationals that qualify in arcades across the country, but the event also reserves spots for select teams of foreign players. This U.S. players have a long history of close combat with a number of high-profile Japanese players at international competitions like EVO, and as a result, SBO has granted multiple U.S. teams entry into the tournament. This years U.S. teams are being chosen at arcades in Providence, RI, Houston, TX, and Los Angeles, CA.

Gamasutra recently conducted an interview with our Christian Svensson (Many of you know him as Sven in the Capcom forums), our Senior Director of Strategic Planning & Research, about the future of Capcom and where we are going from here.
You can read about our future platform strategies, our refocus on the PC platform and even the possiblities of Monster Hunter Frontier.
Monster Hunter obviously makes a lot of sense for the PC.
CS: Monster Hunter: Frontier in Japan has been in closed beta for awhile, and just this past week was the final phase of the closed beta. Launch is still scheduled for the summer, and is going to be a monster in Japan.
As far as how and if Western audiences will get access to that content is something we’re still discussing internally. We’re deciding a) if there is a market, and b) how do we bring it over, how does the administration work, and who’s running this thing and from where?
You can read the whole interview over on Gamasutra.

As many of you many have found out by now, Lost Planet PC comes with a handy-dandy built-in performance test demo. With LP PC being the first DX10 title on Vista and the recent flood of DX10 video cards, it’s especially useful as a benchmarking demo for performance comparasions. Check out the videos below to see it in action.
Low Res QuickTime Movie
High Res QuickTime Movie
Note: The movie was taken with Fraps, and as often happens, the framerate is unfortunately much lower during movie capture. As can be seen in the screenshot at the end of the video, when video capture was turned off, the FPS understandably jumped back up.
Capcom today announced that the game formerly known as Project: Treasure Island Z is no more! In its place? Zack & Wiki: Quest For Barbaros’ Treasure, the new official name for the now officially official title. Don’t worry though, as the same puzzle-solving-treasure-hunting-Wiimote-toting action remains in place. Expect to join Zack (The guy with the hole in his shoe) & Wiki (Big golden ears) on their quest for Barbaros’ Treasure this fall.

Got a burning question about the nuts and bolts behind Lost Planet? We’re taking submissions for questions for Saito-san, the technical guru who brought you Lost Planet on both the XBOX 360 as well as the PC editions.
Post your questions in the Lost Planet Forums and we’ll pass on the best of them. (Posting a question does not guarantee an answer – this is a real working team, so do your best to keep the questions succinct!).
The Lost Planet PC Demo is finally being released later today. Here are some things you can do in preparation of its release.

Mega Man 2 arguably has one of the best soundtracks of the 8-bit generation (In fact, some might argue “ever”). Dr. Wily’s Theme is always up there as far as everyone’s favorites are concerned. That’s why you need to check out this awesome video of a fan who created the Mega Man 2 Dr. Wily Theme completely in Mario Paint.
Now if only I can get a Bubble Man theme too…

Continuing what is starting to turn out to be an apparent obsession of mine, here is another Capcom + music mashup that deserves mentioning by YouTube poster ShadowLeggy.
The song in the video will stick in your head for the rest of the day. You’ve been warned.
Every year, anime, and their conventions, becomes more and more popular here in the US. This year’s Sakura Con in Seattle was attended by more than 11,000 people. Of course, a large number of them came in costume as their favorite anime characters. Capcom’s own characters are always a mainstay during any cosplay functions and Sakura Con’s no exception. These well done costumes were spotted among the vast Flickr Sakura Con photo archives, along with others.

Check out Flickr for thousands more photos from Sakura Con.

Wizard Entertainment has an interview up with Milla Jovovich, star of the upcoming Resident Evil: Extinction movie.
What’s the plot of September’s “Resident Evil: Extinction”?
This one takes place in a post-apocalyptic world, in the sense that the disease has escaped and pretty much 98 percent of the world is infected. So there are groups of survivalists who stick together. Unfortunately, if they stay in one place the zombies would catch them. So they have to keep moving. So it’s a very “Mad Max” vibe with all the crazy, tricked-out trucks and stuff. Very cool vehicles.
Full interview.
A very cool fan-made video of a fantasy Ryu vs Scorpion (of Mortal Kombat fame) fight. Be sure to watch the whole video for the surprise ending!

Isn’t Amaterasu a wolf? How can you cosplay Amaterasu you ask? Well, simple. Since you can’t actually dress up a wolf, them being dangerously feral and all that, you dress up the next best thing, a dog. I’ve never been a fan of dressing up pets (It just seems kind of cruel to me because they have no say in what they want to wear), but this was kinda cool that it’s tolerable. Besides, it’s not as this dog’s owner will make this dog wear it all the time… I hope…

Remember the good old days of sweaty arcade competition? Blaring machines, squaring off against strangers, and talking some trash? Arcades are fewer and further-between, but if you know where to look you can still find that action. Our own Seth Killian knows such a place.
Seth: I stopped by the Portal One arcade at the Sony Metreon building in downtown San Francisco this past weekend to catch up with some friends and watch the some hot competition on Capcom Vs. SNK 2 and Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 (I got there too late to enter). There were some great matches, including internationally known players like John Choi and Ricky Ortiz, as well as newcomers and first-time tournament entrants. I love playing online, but being back in the arcade was a great reminder that no amount of virtual frags will ever replace the grand theater of a face-to-face grudge match.

In any conversation about the hardest games ever, Capcom’s 1986 hit, Ghosts ‘n Goblins, inevitably always comes up as a potential nominee. A running joke among my friends is that I only know the first half of the GnG theme song, because that’s about how long I survive.
Well, not everyone is as bad as me. According to Speed Demos Archive, a player named Daniel ‘Kareshi’ Brown was able to complete the entire game in 22 minutes and 56 seconds. Seemed impossible to me, until I saw the video… Check it out. It’s pretty cool.
