Street Fighter II 'Asian TV Series'

Permalink 03:29:43 pm, Categories: Street Fighter®

This clip looks to be from the eighties, or at least early nineties. It was an admirable, albeit very corny, attempt to capitalize on the Street Fighter franchise. Not unlike a certain movie also based upon the same property…

The intro is long, as it introduces all the live-action actors, and then it goes on to show a good amount of game footage as well. Worse part of it though, is that the game footage looks better than the live-action… Oh, it’s also in Korean.

Was this even properly licensed?

Street Fighter Salsa

First there was “break-dance fighting”, now there’s Street Fighting Salsa, as this footage from a Korean Salsa Competition can attest. These guys should either enter Dancing With The Stars, or be in the next Street Fighter Movie, espcially since it will focus on Chun Li.

Pillaging Pirate Adventure Challenges Gamers to Play Different

SAN MATEO, CalifMarch 16, 2007 – Capcom®, a leading worldwide developer and publisher of video games, today announced its first original title exclusively for the Nintendo Wii™, Project Treasure Island Z (Working Title), an innovative, full-length puzzle adventure game that utilizes the unique control mechanics of the Wiimote and challenges gamers to “play different.” Capcom plans to release Project Treasure Island Z (Working Title) this fall.

“Innovation has been the cornerstone of Capcom’s successful history,” said Charles Bellfield, vice president, marketing, Capcom Entertainment. “By introducing a whole new level of interactivity, this title reinforces our commitment to pushing the limits on how people view and play games.”

Legend has it that a revered pirate named Barbaros once stole the world’s treasure and hid it on a mysterious island. Though no one knows of its exact location, stories about the untold riches that lay in wait have been passed down through the ages, driving pirates from all walks of life to pursue the alluring prizes. One of these treasure seekers, a young apprentice pirate named Zack happens upon a mysterious talking skull, the skull of Barbaros himself. Barbaros promises to reveal the key to the island, if Zack will help to lift the curse he is under.

Players will explore a variety of wondrous environments and stages, solving puzzles and interacting with the world in search of vast riches and the ultimate pursuit of becoming the greatest pirate the world has ever seen. Inventive gameplay mechanics and controller movements allow players to move and open objects, transform items, unlock new pathways and navigate through perilous stages based on a variety of themes including a jungle, ice temple, volcanic caves and more, each with their own sub-areas. Players will rotate handles, turn keys to open doors, play a piccolo and much more in order to solve the progressively difficult puzzle stages and collect Barbaros’s legendary treasures.

The Latest In Capcom's Popular Monster Hunter Series "Monster Hunter Freedom 2" has broken a Million in Japan

Permalink 10:42:42 am, Categories: Monster Hunter

Capcom is pleased to announce that Monster Hunter Freedom 2 for the PSP (PlayStation Portable) system (referred to below as the PSP system) has shipped more than 1 million units in Japan. The second installment has managed to outperform even the popular first game to reach one million shortly after release. With the release of the Best Edition of the first Monster Hunter Freedom, the first game is also expected to exceed one million in the near future. Combined, these two titles make the Monster Hunter Freedom series the strongest game series on the PSP system in Japan as of March 6th, 2007.

The popular Monster Hunter series of action games puts the player in the role of a fearless hunter roaming the great outdoors tracking down gigantic beasts. Players can tackle the adventure alone or join friends over a network for team cooperative action. Since the first Monster Hunter’s console release in March 2004, it cumulatively shipped over 3,7 million copies around the world as of March 6th, 2007, and has been honored with numerous awards, securing a place as one of Capcom’s premier titles.

Capcom has been working closely with Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. in order to expand sales of the popular series. One result is the special Monster Hunter PSP system bundle which includes a special color edition PSP system, the game Monster Hunter Freedom 2, and other original goods. This and other promotional efforts have helped to spur sales. In addition to console versions, a pre-installed mobile phone game and trading cards are planned at the beginning of April as part of Capcom’s one content, multi-use business strategy.

Capcom will continue to strive to develop new and original games that appeal to a broad audience around the globe.

Monster Hunter Banner Hunt!

Calling all Monster Hunters!

Wanted: The elusive beast known as the Monster Hunter Banner that has been missing from these Unity pages since the beginning of time.

Reward: Fame, promotion to HR48750475, and possible fortune in the form of random loot that may be dropped by THE Seth.

Owing to their observation skills honed by hours of dedicated monster hunting, some of our fans pointed out that we somehow forgot to include a Monster Hunter banner here on our Unity site. Help us right this wrong by creating a Monster Hunter banner to fill the gap!

The size of the banner should be 260×44 and wed like to have them submitted by 6pm on March 16th, 2007. It will then be put to a vote by your fellow hunters and the top vote getter may be used as the official Monster Hunter banner on the Unity homepage!

Please post your submissions here in the forums.
